Day 2

On our 2nd day in Rome, we got up early and met Daniella. She is an art historian and her husband is a Corporal in the Swiss Guard. They live in Vatican City.

She showed us around St. Peter's, and then gave us a behind the scenes walking tour of Vatican City. We even saw where she lives. This is St. Peter's dome behind me.

I had my picture taken with a Swiss Guard! Their job to keep the Pope and The Vatican safe.
Here is a picture of the map of Italy in the Hall of Maps in one of the Vatican's many galleries.

A Gladiator tried to get me!

One of our favorite places in Rome is the Campo dei Fiori. It is a huge flower market.

There was a bead store that Ms. Fecteau would love!
No day is complete without gelato. Thanks for reading......

Day 1

We had so many bags we could barely fit ourselves in the car. We brought lots of extra diapers, clothes, and medicine for the orphanage. This is my mom next to our car.

Here I am walking up the ramp to the airplane!

The flight was so long we all slept.

The Customs agent in Rome stamped my passport. My first stamp!

Our bags took so long to come out I made a friend and we drew in our journals. Her name was Macy.

The Taxis look much different in Italy - and they drive really fast!

We met up with my family.

We finished the day with a big Italian dinner.

I can't wait for tomorrow...

First Entry

My name is Augusta. I am 5 years old and I am leaving tomorrow to meet my new sister in Africa.

Here is a picture of my sister. I chose the name Penelope for her. She is a few months younger here. I can't wait to meet her.

My parents and I are meeting both of my Grandfathers, Bobby and Da and my Grandma Gaga in Italy then we will all travel to Africa together. My Grandma Gammy and Greatgrandma Gigi can't come on the trip but I hope they will read my web log while we are away. I will miss them both.

I am also going to miss my friends and my classmates in Mrs. Russel's class. I can't wait to see them all when I get back. Write to me on my blog. I don't know how well the computer will work while I am away, but I will try to have lots of entries.

Off to bed - we are going to sleep tomorrow night on the airplane so I am going to try to get a good night sleep tonight.

Bye everyone!
